The truth is often marred but a real person takes responsibility and ensures that change is made. Mr. Franken is more of a leader than many others and we thank him for his service!

Fern Torres · December 8, 2017 at 2:52 pm

So you just want him to confess to everything these women are saying?…you know they could also be stretching the truth here we really don’t know. He resigned what else do you want. He apologized and she (tweeden) accepted his apology.

Stacey Morelyn · December 8, 2017 at 2:52 pm

He took responsibility for actions he remembered, he apologized & his apology was accepted. He called one women a liar. He did not call the other ladies liars. He said he did not remember the other incidents, but he apologized for causing stress & harm. An apology that is a lie is no apology @ all. There’s nothing wrong with the way Franken treated this women.

Eric Lalande · December 8, 2017 at 2:52 pm

I don’t like him at all but it’s not up to me or anyone else other than the MN voters whether he should be in the Senate. He hasn’t been charged with anything and he has had no due process. This is ridiculous and you could see the anger about it in his speech today. The Democratic leadership will regret this move.

Victor Schleich · December 8, 2017 at 2:52 pm

I was waiting for the speech and listening to a host on CNN say that she expected a fall on the sword type of speech. Not only did we not get that, but instead we got a speech where he took little to no responsibility for his actions.

Bob N. Batchelder · December 8, 2017 at 2:52 pm

Trump says he did nothing and the tape where he confesses to harassment is not real. Trump has one woman suing him and Trump says he is too busy to respond. At least Mr Franken is acknowledging things happened

Dan Welch · December 8, 2017 at 2:52 pm

The first one was more than likely BS is that lady was all over everybody. Plus the fact that she is a big Trump supporter. Why not go after a vocal Democrat

Irene Miscione · December 8, 2017 at 2:52 pm

His resignation was spot on! You got your pound of flesh. He leaves and you get to keep the assaulter in chief and his sidekick, Senator pedophile. So frankly…to those who say it isn’t enough, STFU!

Kelcy Cole · December 8, 2017 at 2:52 pm

Here is my issue with the Franken story. Has he done this behavior since he left the comedy club and became a politician? To me the behavior, while disgusting, was consistent with his persona as a comedian. Huge difference to all the other cases coming out in the news.

Judith Balzer · December 8, 2017 at 2:52 pm

He already apologized to the women, constituency. CHARACTER was sullied by silly and poor judgement, but has begun to loom large. Thank you for your efforts and grace under pressure.

Kevin Dowey · December 8, 2017 at 2:52 pm

Haaa! He just got thrown under the bus by his own party FOR THE CONVENIENCE OF POLITICAL GAIN. If not for the Moore Senate seat threat, there would nothing more than a go nowhere ethics investigation for Franken. Bet he’s shocked.

Oren Thorson · December 8, 2017 at 2:52 pm

Democrats just guaranteed a republican replacement come the next Senate election. I expect republican Tim Pawlenty will take his place. Pawlenty is a Scott Walker of Wisconsin clone.

Michael F. Wojnarek · December 8, 2017 at 2:52 pm

The sacrificial lamb he be. The democrats gambit is to trade one senator that will be replaced by a female democrat for the hopes of a second democrat senator from Alabama and a president they really, really hate for beating their queen. Their gambit will fail because Trump would never resign until after 2018 elections so that his replacement Mike Pence would then get ten years as president and the Alabama voters will trust Moore for now then let their governor appoint s replacement if necessary later.

Gary Bachler · December 8, 2017 at 2:52 pm

Dems had a big mistake forcing franken out. Yes, they wan to claim the high road but the trumpster has brought the country to such a low level on ethics / morales that there is no high ground anymore. “Lie and deny” is the new high ground

Staci Kezios Kokalias · December 8, 2017 at 2:52 pm

Good for him. If he doesn’t think he did anything wrong. Why be politically correct and admit to something you don’t believe you did? Gets you elected to the highest office in the land. He acknowledged the women’s feelings. Period. He shouldn’t have resigned.

Barbara Creasy · December 8, 2017 at 2:52 pm

Then why resign? Who is to say that the women are being honest? The first one was – and admitted by the “victim” a part of a comedy skit. They weren’t alone as there were other people, including a cameraman, who showed her fully dressed. I don’t think it’s right to get by with things – don’t get me wrong. But it is possible to railroad someone – and Franken is one of the few in Congress that have actually made a difference in the lives of people and has promoted women’s causes. His coworkers all state that he’s been a gentleman. Meanwhile, there are men doing far worse, even bragging about it, that don’t leave. For the sake of everyone, we should not be tossing aside those that actually care about people. We’ve tossed out innocent until proven guilty and blindly take the word of every accuser because women never lie? Guess what? sometimes they do.

Michael Collins · December 8, 2017 at 2:52 pm

There is a difference between stealing a candy bar and robbing a bank with a gun. But the Republicans are going to support the POS with the gun. All they care about and get hard about is that tax sham!

Bobbie Evans · December 8, 2017 at 2:52 pm

A lynch mob of women from his own party demanded Mr Franken to Resign without even a hearing, but they are cowards when it comes to Donald Trump and Roy Moore. Shame on you all.

Angie Marks · December 8, 2017 at 2:52 pm

There was NO investigation. Without an investigation we have no way of knowing if he is guilty or not. We need to tread carefully bc this could quickly turn into a lynch mob and good men like Franken can be hurt.

James William Rushin · December 8, 2017 at 2:52 pm

If everyman was judged by the impetuous mistakes of his youth we would all be out of a job. It is ironic that Franken has to resign while the molester in chief Trump gets to be president, and no one says a word. The only woman Franken apologized too doesn’t want him to resign, he denies or recalls differently the other complaints against him. The Democrats are shooting themselves in the foot playing holier than thou while republicans piss all over them and do exactly as they want. Somebody needs to grow a set and get with the program to replace the republicans, not harm the best representatives the democrats have.

John Coleman · December 8, 2017 at 2:52 pm

He apologized personally to tweeden.

The rest of these anonymous, fact free allegations of groping at state fairs is nonsense. No public figure can defend themselves against that. That’s why it’s meaningless

Jim Bartley · December 8, 2017 at 2:52 pm

boor
bo͝or/
noun
1. An unrefined, ill-mannered person.
2. Franken didn’t lure, have meetings in hotel bedrooms, have secret door lock buttons, wear open bathrobes. If anything, he was a boor, not a predator. There is a difference.

Chener Tango · December 8, 2017 at 2:52 pm

that is pathetic. you either did not do it and be not sorry for it or you did it and guilty so you resigned.

you have little or no credibility to say i resign but i did not do it. why did you resign then? craps.

Sherian Cole · December 8, 2017 at 2:52 pm

Don’t think he should have stepped down.Only if Moore and Trump do it first, which will never happened.

John Kelly · December 8, 2017 at 2:52 pm

Franken mans up and meanwhile Trump is still the predator-in-chief and the GOP is ready to accept a pedophile to the Congress. Family values much?
