Apparently Alan Dershowitz and Pete Wilson are both behind this. I heard Ben Shapiro interview someone from PragerU, and they’re excited to make a go of this.

They made some valid points, too. People would rip restricted videos, and youtube would allow them to be open and monetized. Only PragerU as the creator is blocked, so the content itself apparently isn’t the issue, Youtube is actively discriminating against PragerU as a creator, and that’s illegal.

I hope you do… god speed.

Dennis Prager and the team over at PragerU are incredibly smart and well-equipped. They don’t rush into BS unless they know they have an argument/fight. I expect good things and anyone who doesn’t is unfamiliar with the plaintiff.

This is an extremely important court case that will have reverberations around the world. I will be paying close attention.

Maybe YouTube should bake them a gay wedding cake.

You do not have a right to someone else’s platform. If by some bizarre chance this isn’t immediately thrown out and they even more bizarrely win you can say good-bye to any conservative site, blog, subreddit or forum on the internet. Liberals will flood them all within hours just out of spite, and they’ll be completely free to do so.

I wish them the best of luck, truly, but what grounds can they really stand on? Google is a private company offering a service that must surely be at their discretion?

I mean I agree that it’s effectively a public amenity and, at this point, Google pretty much *is* the internet, but does US law specify that a private company offering a service must support free speech on it? I’d thought that service provision relied on both parties consenting to the deal?

I think their best best was to nail them on monopoly. YouTube, like Microsoft, of the 90’s has dominant control of the market on such services. As such their abuses have a larger impact; either they stop their discrimination or their company gets split/forced to give competitors a leg up. As a consumer I wish there were good alternatives but all the content provides for such a market are on YouTube making it hard for any other company to get off the ground. The same could be said of Facebook (which is a shitty service).
