[The Charges against Manafort](http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/30/politics/indictment-manafort-gates/index.html)

* Conspiracy against the United States.
* Conspiracy to launder money
* Failure to file reports of foreign bank and financial accounts for calendar years 2011-2014
* Failure to file reports of foreign bank and financial accounts for calendar years 2011-2013
* Unregistered agent of a foreign principal
* False and misleading FARA statements
* False statements

Isn’t Jared guilty of a few of these? We keep hearing about how he forgot to document 10, 20, 200 meetings on his security clearance form, including a massive number of financial transactions…. I don’t know the law, but while these charges may not be identical, they sure sound similar *in kind* to things that we know JK has done.

* [Democratic Rep: Jared Kushner committed perjury by lying on his FBI disclosure forms](https://www.usnews.com/news/politics/articles/2017-04-13/democrats-seek-suspension-of-jared-kushners-security-clearance)

Just as a friendly reminder: ***Jared Kushner still has security clearance!*** Despite the dozens of assets, hundreds of meetings, and millions of dollars he “forgot” to disclose, *and* “forgetting” to tell the Senate that he was using a private email to conduct White House business, he still has a security clearance. Talk about double standards.

Now as I said, it’s the *letter* of the law that matters when it comes to Republican politicians. If Bill Clinton had an (R) next to his name, his famous comment that “It depends on what the definition of the word ‘is’ is.” would have been lauded by conservative legal scholars as a masterful rebuttal to Democratic questioning, instead it was roundly mocked as avoiding the spirit of the question. (In truth Bill was clarifying the difference between is, in the present tense, and was, in the past tense.) But with Jared we’ll almost certainly have to dive into law books and look at footnotes and get the Supreme Court to clearly state whether questing someone’s isness is constitutional and jump through every hoop ever hulaed.

Still, on the face of it and to a layperson, this sure sounds like Jared was doing a lot of the same stuff that Manafort just got indicted for.

> The one-two punch of the Manafort and Gates indictment, followed by the Papadopoulos plea deal just over an hour later, also suggested that Mueller was taking the hostile political climate into consideration. Before Monday, many observers thought Manafort was the likeliest subject of an expected indictment. But the Papadopoulos revelations came as a complete surprise and undermined conservative talking points.

> “Not only does this suggest that Mueller is taking into account the optics and the politics of the moment, but that he’s actually trying to take advantage of them to maximize the clout of the investigation and to control the narrative,” Vladeck said.

So Mueller is as good or better spin doctor as anyone on the Trump/Fox team, and his inner circle is leakproof.

cornyb · November 1, 2017 at 4:20 am

Steve Reilly (USA Today reporter) [noted that there are four cases on the DC US District Court docket with case numbers between Padadopoulos and Manafort’s case numbers **that are still sealed**.](https://twitter.com/BySteveReilly/status/925063641870856192) Could be a coincidence, or there could be as many as four additional, related indictments out there that will be unsealed at some point.

Caracaos · November 1, 2017 at 4:20 am

Lol. All this fake news, and you people can’t even give Trump credit where it’s due.

Obama spent 8 years in office, with no indictments and no convictions of his staff.

Trump has been in office less than a year and we’re already at 3 indictments and 1 conviction. Ahead of schedule! #MAGA

wulvershill · November 1, 2017 at 4:20 am

Yeah but I’m sure they’re just getting those minor Trump indictments out of the way before moving on to arresting Clinton and all the liberals everywhere.

Right guys? I mean clearly that’s what this is, right? Next up Clinton and Obama. For sure!

>Papadopoulos’s plea agreement was initially sealed. According to a motion filed in July, were its particulars publicly known at the time, they would have hampered his ability to work on behalf of investigators as a “proactive cooperator.” According to Barrett, that phrase could refer to Papadopoulos “having law enforcement-monitored meetings,” including **wearing a wire or arranging “calls or emails with other subjects of the investigation who are unaware that he is cooperating with the government.”**

Emphasis mine.

One or two a week, with trump getting his turn in the barrel as a christmas present to the 75% of the US that hate him, would be just fine with me.

Terry_Flappers · November 1, 2017 at 4:20 am

Yep. This is Day One. And they already flipped Papadopoulos.

kooycat · November 1, 2017 at 4:20 am

I’m sure, but things will love faster now

hdadeathly · November 1, 2017 at 4:20 am

I think Mueller will start cranking these out now. The first shot has been fired and he knows Trump and his cronies are scrambling trying to figure out the easiest way to fire him.

I propose that we put Robert Mueller’s face on Mt. Rushmore.

info_sacked · November 1, 2017 at 4:20 am

Apparently there are 4 more announced sealed indictments today. Welp there are 4 more days in this week, so I say bring it!

DeepState_9 · November 1, 2017 at 4:20 am

I hope the indictments, arrests and revelations come daily now. I don’t want to wait months between announcements.

Can special council indict Jeff Session, if a crime (perjury) was committed?

stevie1218 · November 1, 2017 at 4:20 am

There’s a clip going around of Manafort today walking to his car with cameras around him. He looked so unbelievably pissed. He shoved a camera out of his face and walked with such an anger.

This wasn’t supposed to happen to him. If Jeff Sessions hadn’t recused himself none of this would’ve happened. Things could’ve happened that would’ve prevented a Special Counsel, easy things. If only Trump hadn’t fired Comey. Or, if he hadn’t been so snarky about it and made people question his motives.

I just have a feeling watching him walk like he’s so incredibly pissed off… that something that no one saw happening occurred and the plan he had was foiled.

I guess that’s just my tinfoil hat theory about the clip, but damn he looked fucking angry.

CertifiedGenius420 · November 1, 2017 at 4:20 am

Hopefully.

Wolpertinger77 · November 1, 2017 at 4:20 am

Serious question that hopefully someone smarter than myself can answer:

So if you’re Gates/Manafort, and Mueller drops these charges on you. And you plead not guilty…

Does that indicate anything other than thinking they can really beat these charges? Some talking heads on TV are saying one of them might flip. But wouldn’t that have already happened?

What happens between now & their trial date?

smellslikeautism · November 1, 2017 at 4:20 am

Sara Sanders looked fearful and flustered at the press conference today. I’d say he is on to something.

Mueller is my idol- Why can’t the rest of Washington fight for justice? Someone get this man 3 purple hearts and a medal of honor. DOWN WITH THE RUSSIANS!!!

moon-worshiper · November 1, 2017 at 4:20 am

Eye witness. FBI did not leak. Popadopolos arrested in July, pleaded guilty in early October, sealed until today. Defendant is described as being pro-active co-operator and may have been wearing a wire from July to October.

regdent · November 1, 2017 at 4:20 am

Fuck it Mueller for president

nakkh · November 1, 2017 at 4:20 am

Today Robert Muller got in his car, put on his seatbelt, adjusted his mirrors, started the engine, put the car in reverse and started backing out of the driveway- beginning his & our journey of slaying Trump corruption and scandal. Let’s clean that hoarder house of corruption and lies.
