Speaker Paul Ryan calls health care entitlements “the big drivers of our debt” during a discussion about the Republican tax bill.

Ryan says GOP plans to work on entitlement reform in 2018

lies. i paid into SS, medicare, medicaid. all my life. we all do. those are each indivdual’s assets; their money. keep your Grifty Old Paws off my money, fool!

Connie Jones · December 8, 2017 at 7:05 am

Well Paul Ryan has said for years “it is my life’s dream” to gut social security and Medicare. Working people have paid into SS and Medicare for years only to now be told you aren’t going to get any or just a tiny bit but you will still pay the same amount from your pay. Why don’t they raise the wage cap? Why do people who make over $128,700 don’t need to continue having SS and Medicare taken out of their pay? Or better yet give us back the money you stole from the trust.

Midge Goodridge Antolos · December 8, 2017 at 7:05 am

Entitlement is the FIRST WORD that’s got to disappear! Much of the money in these programs is ours!! They use words like entitlement against us!

W.R. Johann · December 8, 2017 at 7:05 am

If American people are going to be paying taxes, health care and food and housing assistance should be the first thing taken care of. What do people think, think it’s so we can pay for politicians and war?. No! That’s just wrong and no one can argue that fact, this is America and their shouldn’t be anyone in this country worried about being sick hungry or homeless.

Kathy Lynn · December 8, 2017 at 7:05 am

This crap happens every time a republican president is elected, what did people expect?? They’re cutting stuff on Vets again too.

Jeremy Turner · December 8, 2017 at 7:05 am

There’s nothing about science that makes you deny it, psychologically speaking. Trump supporters are psychologically ill. There’s no excuse for being that stupid and out-of-touch with facts–not even being psychologically ill or a “redneck” or a “christian”.

John Stubanas · December 8, 2017 at 7:05 am

It’s not entitlements….I paid taxes almost my entire life into SS and Medicare. Explain to me why they are entitlements

Linda Stoker · December 8, 2017 at 7:05 am

I just read that Ryan has collected Social Security. After Ryan’s father passed away, Ryan saved Social Security survivor’s benefits to pay for attending Miami University. He benefited from the “entitlement” as he loves to call them but I guess he doesn’t think anyone else should.

Bill Tarver · December 8, 2017 at 7:05 am

Wait, having health Care is an entitlement? How about we take away healthcare for members of Congress and see what they think then.

Caitlin Correa · December 8, 2017 at 7:05 am

On another note….the drone moronic Trump supporters seem to be conspicuously missing from this post. I guess they have nothing to say when it has something to do with stealing money from them and screwing them when they’re older. I hear crickets 😂😂

Peggy Lammert Schuler · December 8, 2017 at 7:05 am

Thanks Trump voters. We all lose because of your naive votes! Way to screw America. Social Security and Medicaid are going to be gutted.

Pippy Nguyen · December 8, 2017 at 7:05 am

GOP claim they don’t have the money for child healthcare yet give the wealthy almost 2 trillion through their tax plan. I will cash my vote using “straight ticket voting” for the democrat

Evan Young · December 8, 2017 at 7:05 am

This has been the GOP plan all along… give HUGE tax breaks to their wealthy donors (at the expense of the middle class), explode the debt and then tell us that they just have to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid to keep our government going. There’s not a group more dangerous to the well being of America than the modern Republican Party.

Sally Nista · December 8, 2017 at 7:05 am

Paul Ryan is the worst Speaker of the House. He is in way over his head and his actions are clearly now t motivated by serving the best interests of the American people. He needs to be replaced.

Caitlin Correa · December 8, 2017 at 7:05 am

There’s about to be a straight up coup or revolution in this country if they start taking Medicare and ss after people have been paying into them their entire lives. This is not going to go well for multiple reasons.

Lisa Brooks-Kemp · December 8, 2017 at 7:05 am

Paul Ryan and other members of Congress receive more entitlements than us citizens do or ever would. I have paid into SS and Medicare since I was 16 and have never received any type of “entitlement” from the government. Now, when its time for me to retire there won’t be anything left. Stop stealing our money to pay for wars and there won’t be any problems.

Dan Welch · December 8, 2017 at 7:05 am

These are not entitlements. The reason it is in financial jeopardy because you people couldn’t keep your hands out of the cookie jar. Reagan took money out to make sure that his tax cuts could be paid for the rich. Bush took his out to fund his little war which seems Will go on for another Life time. How about putting that back it will be in a whole lot better financial shape. But then you have to pay you’re rich tax cuts On the backs of the elderly the poor the disabled and the middle class

Janet Park · December 8, 2017 at 7:05 am

Paul Ryan has collected a paycheck issued by the US government for the most part of his life. AND that means it was from the taxpayers. He is a another one of those MORANS.

Brian Kulak · December 8, 2017 at 7:05 am

That’s because all the tax breaks for big companies and the wealthiest people will trickle down to the average folks who then can use it for retirement or health insurance/expenses.

Gary Bachler · December 8, 2017 at 7:05 am

Didn’t the trumpster say he would protect medicare? To you seniors who voted repub, you screwed us all. Thank for nothing. PS Social security is also on the block, but repubs can’t do that with reconciliation and dems will never sell out seniors like repubs will. But hey, the wealthy are getting their tax cut

Oren Orendorf · December 8, 2017 at 7:05 am

If the Republicans attack the health care entitlements, and strip away funding, and coverage which is already insufficent, they’ll regret it at every election for the next 100 years! I could be mistaken, but I certainly hope that the American voters prove me right!

Diane Purvis · December 8, 2017 at 7:05 am

the big driver of the debt is called trump….of course your clever tax rip off has nothing to do with it, right? Ryan there is a reason for your slipping favorable numbers…

Rosalind Broadnax · December 8, 2017 at 7:05 am

That’s been his plan all along. The only way the GOP Tax plan has any chance in 👹 🔥 of working is by stealing from SS, Medicare and Medicaid…steal from the poor to give to the rich.

Robin Rodenborg · December 8, 2017 at 7:05 am

6% of the nation’s budget goes to healthcare. Less than 4 % goes to food and nutrition. 8% goes towards education. He feels this is too much? Who raised such an entitled, greedy, jealous son?

Beth McGarvey · December 8, 2017 at 7:05 am

“There it is. Paul Ryan just admitted that after providing $1 trillion in tax breaks to the top 1% and large corporations, Republicans will try to cut Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and help for the most vulnerable Americans,” Sanders wrote.
