From the beginning, this has been an incident blown way out of proportion, turned into a smear campaign. And unlike Mr. tRUMP, Mr. Moore, and others, Senator Franken had the integrity to address the issue with an apology.

When ALL accusations by ALL accusers are proven true, then ALL who are guilty should resign . . .

I stand with Senator Franken, not with those in the Democratic Party calling for his resignation.
If he does resign, I will resign my affiliation and allegiance to the Democratic Party.

Bob Mixon · December 8, 2017 at 11:24 am

I really think we are walking on slippery slope here. Has everyone forgot we are a country of innocent until proven guilty? I’ll be the first to tell you, I am conservative and not an Al Franken fan. However, shouldn’t we be allowing due process to determine the outcome of these things? If we start allowing just any accusation to destroy someone, we are in serious trouble.

Sanja Skansi DeGarmo · December 8, 2017 at 11:24 am

What happened to due process of the law? When did peers become judge and jury? Aren’t you being hasty in condemning a man for alleged transgressions? Please, focus on the tax bill, the Mideast, our national parks and monuments and healthcare, to name a few far-reaching policy issues.

Dorothy Stopford Barr · December 8, 2017 at 11:24 am

This is starting to go way too far. Let the investigation go forward before calling for his resignation. This could be a setup. There must be due process. Shummèr and Dems should stop worrying about taking the high road. Let’s just investigate and then hold people accountable if they are guilty. If this is just a scam by the right and Franken is forced to resign they will start repeating the process with others.

Julie Elliott · December 8, 2017 at 11:24 am

NO! I don’t care what Chuck says – they (senior Dems on the Hill) have been strategically wrong for quite some time and they have no clue how to address evil when it shows up at the door. This is a smear campaign, and you should not run away. Stay and fight this battle!

Gary Eller · December 8, 2017 at 11:24 am

What Al did was a joke, and that was extremely clear to anyone with a brain, it was not sexual assault. Seeking his resignation is just what the GOP want, it is a mistake.

Abdullah Bin Hammam · December 8, 2017 at 11:24 am

Since when does a US President ‘decide’ which city is to be the capital of a foreign country? Trump is a bully – he’s low in the polls and is trying to get World into another war – I’d bet him and his GOP cohorts in crime have a LOT invested in war/military stock in their portfolios! The USA needs to stay OUT of the business of other countries

As a constituent of two of the Democratic senators, I strongly disagree with the decision to ask Senator Franken to resign, especially with what has been going on in Congress the past few months. We need him in the Senate to ask the hard questions that aren’t being asked by anyone else. Especially if Roy Moore is going to be elected next week. Unfortunately, I disagree with Kirsten Gillebrand and believe there are different rankings for a forced kiss, groping (what is groping?), sexual harassment, sexual abuse, rape and what he’s done is nothing more than most every man in the Congress and elsewhere has been used to doing forever and a day. Yes, we all want it to stop, but holding Franken to a higher standard than the president and other Republicans is why Democrats keep losing. There was no threatening of career or life, was there? How about stalking 14yr olds? None of this misogyny is good, and men need to get the message to change, BUT, Franken’s resignation will help ABSOLUTELY NO ONE. Stick it out, and help us keep the men who are really trying to hurt us (the Republican Party) at bay. (Planned Parenthood, birth control, public school education, etc..) And how about some investigation into these accusations before asking for his resignation? Thank you.

As a life-long Democrat I am outraged at Senator Schumer and all the other Democrats who have not waited for the ethics investigation that Senator Franken wanted. There should be a distinction between actions taken by an entertainer clowning around and actions taken by a public servant. Sexual misbehavior should be subject to the same type of procedures to assure justice as other accusations of misbehavior, e.g., bribery, lying, etc.

Nancy House · December 8, 2017 at 11:24 am

I am sick of the Democrats equating what Franken has been accused of to what trump and Moore have been been accused of. Get a grip. And listen to majority of the public. We do not want him to resign.
At the most allow the investigation to be completed. But then also reveal the accused and found to be at least guilty of to warrant a pay out.
I am a woman and want him to stay. I am a Democrat and sick of the Dems approach to things. The wimpiness of our party is why the country is in such a mess right now.
Stand up for him and keep him in the senate.

I just notified my Senator Tammy Baldwin that I am stopping my campaign donations to her and to the DNC over this. They haven’t learned anything since they lost Wisconsin in 2010 due to their holier than thou, I know what’s best for people attitude!

Monica Baumann · December 8, 2017 at 11:24 am

Why dont the same people asking Franken to resign (that would be you Schummer) ask the pu**y grabber to resign? Grow some b*lls Schummer and ask the clown to resign first. It’s been documented since the early 80’s that trumpy is a sexual predator…

Imogene Stokes Hart · December 8, 2017 at 11:24 am

Why aren’t you all willing to investigate all the charges against #45 and demand he resigns? You are setting double standards here. Why aren’t you making more noise about Roy Moore?????????

Tom Digger · December 8, 2017 at 11:24 am

NO way Franken should be asked to leave is MOORE is elected and gets to stay! What hypocrisy! When DONNY LEAVES, Franken should leave!

Christian Mrosko · December 8, 2017 at 11:24 am

Political witch hunt for sure…losing respect for these Democrats trying to score political points in a wave of irrational holier than thou populism.

Karen Callison · December 8, 2017 at 11:24 am

I think Franken should stay. This is a witch hunt!! These women could be lying and it should be investigated and those women put under oath. These are old accusations and if Moore gets to run then Franken needs to stay. I am infuriated at the democrats over this and wish we had a viable third party! This is the going overboard political correctness that got Trump elected!!!!!

Lori Larson · December 8, 2017 at 11:24 am

STOP sabotaging our party!! Step up and support Al Franken. He deserves much better from you. We believe him and need him!!~

Elaine Fusco Boccia · December 8, 2017 at 11:24 am

I stand with senator Franken, not with any Democrat calling for his resignation. I will no longer vote Democratic if he resigns.

Connie Juliano · December 8, 2017 at 11:24 am

I am sick of Schumer and Polosi – they need to grow a spine. Not only did they not vote to impeach the beast but they are as wimpy as can be. That is not what the Democrats need now.

Sandra Herreman · December 8, 2017 at 11:24 am

I think the Democrats are falling into the trap laid by Bannon and the Republicans specifically for Al Franken. Franken was the one that was pushing Republicans (Sessions, for one) regarding their “untruths” in testifying. The Democrats want to prove “they don’t protect predators” so Franken is the sacrificial lamb to slaughter. When women that worked with Al (on SNL) said they didn’t experience any harassment, I believe them and him. I think Bannon is working overtime on this and getting child-molester Moore elected!

Shirley Davila · December 8, 2017 at 11:24 am

Everyone all the people see it’s just wrong to ask him to resign but the Democratic leaders ? Please stop over reacting to the republicans under reacting ! Your a bunch of fools ! This is wrong you are destroying a mans life ? The people speak we do not want Al to resign why don’t they listen ? A kiss is not sexual assault ! A bunch of lawyers don’t know the difference ?

Rolando Jr Raymond · December 8, 2017 at 11:24 am

The whole of congress should resign maybe not the women. I’m sure knowingly or not they all have done this at one time or another.

Oliver Riefler · December 8, 2017 at 11:24 am

1. he is guilty and it is proven he even pleaded guilty (don’t understand commenter here who say otherwise)
2. he apologized to the victims. How nice. And they can accept or not. That’s their business.
3. Franken should be out of Senate as there is no place for such a person in the highest services the US have to offer.

Daisy De Leon · December 8, 2017 at 11:24 am

He should stay strong!! He apologized and requested an investigation. Moore coming in as a senator and they want Franken out. No way!!!!

Julia Gonzales · December 8, 2017 at 11:24 am

Mr. Franken , is one of a kind. He admitted he was wrong & sorry for his actions while in the entertainment business . It was not right . but haven’t anyone of us humans made mistakes !!! BS if you see it otherwise.
