It’s a praise-worthy decision: Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, and our embassy should be in that city.

Trump’s Non-Radical Decision on Jerusalem

We applaud President Trump for following through on this promise.

Appears the fine print in the documents allows for president to table the embassy move until a peace deal can be made.

If that is indeed the case, this is more or less “kabuki theatre” to score points with his base than an actual commitment to move the embassy.

Good grief people, Congress overwhelmingly approved this in ‘96. This is not some rogue move, it’s following through on a promise three prior administrations “promised” to do.

Chuck Jakubisin · December 8, 2017 at 11:16 am

NR, wait, WHAT? You’re actually approving of something that President Donald Trump has done? Well this is one historic moment!!!

1992: Bill Clinton vows to move the US Embassy in Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Breaks his promise and fails to do so.

1995: Congress approves the relocation of the embassy by the year 1999. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

2000: George W. Bush bashes Clinton for failing to move the embassy and promises to do so. Bush, in 8 years, fails to do so & breaks his promise to move it to Jerusalem.

2008: Barack Obama says, “Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided. I will move the US Embassy to Jerusalem.” Obama, in 8 years, fails to do so & breaks his promise.

2017: Trump fulfills another campaign promise: announces U.S. embassy is moving to Jerusalem. And it’s moving.

Are you starting to see the difference between politicians vs. businessmen??

But Palestine also has a holy book that tells them different. When do you choose to lose a battle for your own benefit? All of Israel was apart of the Roman empire.

This may start a war. Trump and North Korea, or the Middle East. Which war will be his legacy, if we survive it?

Christina Limebrook · December 8, 2017 at 11:16 am

I fear there will be violence over this. Good decision though. It was to happen for a while now, anyway. I think since 1995 and finally we are doing it.

Mark Cauley · December 8, 2017 at 11:16 am

Technically, sure. Timing? Insane. Benghazi times a 1000. Anyone for this move should go help the diplomats move them in

Rod Bassler · December 8, 2017 at 11:16 am

Pandering to his evangelical base who have no clue as to what being a Christian truly means. This article is garbage.

David Miley · December 8, 2017 at 11:16 am

Stupid. Going to cause violence. Will accomplish nothing. Rump damages our reputation even more around the world.

Laurie Jarosz Berger · December 8, 2017 at 11:16 am

He followed through on Obama’s promises too, you know. Obama was just a pussy and didn’t go through with it.

Linda Palit · December 8, 2017 at 11:16 am

Destabilizing the world one tweet or stupid move at a time.

Bob Puharic · December 8, 2017 at 11:16 am

Uh no. this should have been done by leading the international community; not a decision making us a rogue state

Sammie Nelson · December 8, 2017 at 11:16 am

How nice of you National Review to actually give Donald Trump credit for something. Your publication is so hypocritical it’s ridiculous
