I remember it like it was yesterday. Move-On.org took over the Anti-War movement, and the second Hillary Voted to Support the Bush/Chaney/Rumsfeld War Push (based on obvious to all at the time lies), Move-on moved on. The No-War street protests ended on that day, strangely enough.

Charles Anglophobe · November 1, 2017 at 11:09 am

Anti-war movement was selfish, was a child of Vietnam and draft. Americans have no problem turning the middle east into a graveyard for the Zionists and oil. They are completly sociopathic, sick, violent, narrow minded, badly educated humans. Let's tell the truth for a change.

Sarah Silverman and Amy shumer are multimillionaires, how?!

Trump & Family are heroes for fighting the always warmongering swamp. Last chance for democracy in the US. Some idiots stil arel unable to grasp reality and childlishly believe in Clinton ally Bernie Madoff. So sad.

We need a World Champion for President!

hangonsnoop · November 1, 2017 at 11:09 am

The anti-war movement was drowned in the cesspool called the Democratic Party. There was a local campus anti-war group but it immediately evaporated when Obama was elected even though Obama deliberately signaled policy continuity by keeping Gates as SecDef.

Zane Plutano · November 1, 2017 at 11:09 am

It's called the alt-right unfortunately. They are the only ones who actually go out and protest when Trump orders missile strikes on Syria or drops the MOAB on Afghanistan..

OG Johnson · November 1, 2017 at 11:09 am

Or how about we offer soros a tax break and have him destroy North Korea’s economy and have there people riot against their government. Seems it worked here! Why not there? Just sayin lol 😂 its a idea that doesn’t include bombs or troops.

One Minute Revolution
I apologize for the length of this post in advance. Jimmy’s always asking if you have an idea for a revolution, let me know. Here’s mine. First, guys like Jimmy, Cenk, Kyle and others get the word out as much as possible. Then, coordinate a date and time in the evening across the country. And for one minute we boycott the whole damn system. Turn off the power to regain our power. For one minute, disconnect from the grid. TURN OFF the TV, radio, computer, indoor lights, outdoor lights (where practical), AC, heater, washer/dryer and NO cell phone usage. Don’t even speak.

If you’re not at home, simply stop whatever you’re doing, stand still and observe one minute of silence. Do it once a week, every week. A form of silent, non-participatory protest. Let them know we’re tired of these damn wars and we have real power. We have strength in numbers. Flex our muscles. Intimidate the Establishment through a show of unity and force. They hate that.

Protests don’t work. They’re fleeting and impractical to sustain and usually end up in violence through agent provocateurs. The voting system is rigged and we have virtually no say in choosing our political leaders. Boycotting entire companies hurts innocent workers. We can’t get our voice heard in the mainstream because it’s controlled and censored. But a show of force like this couldn’t be ignored.

The beauty of it is no one and nothing gets hurt. And there’s no law enforcement involved. Over time, increase to two nights a week, then three. Increase to 90 seconds. Then two minutes. Black out entire cities for one brief moment. If we gain enough momentum and it becomes necessary, pick one minute out of the day and again, we all participate in a moment of non-participation. Even at work. It will be a slow process, but the way this country is headed, things are only going to get worse. Which over time should increase the numbers.

Think about it. Use your imagination. A show of unstoppable unity and force by the masses would send a direct message to TPTB and scare the hell out of them. If we don’t do something, and soon, this country and our way of life could be doomed forever. You got something better, I’m listening.

Jeremy Jakob · November 1, 2017 at 11:09 am

What are we supposed to do though? I mean we are dealing with next level corruption here. The entire government and media is seemingly owned by the military industrial complex. How am I as an average american voter supposed to change any of this? I get so disgusted with my own government and the people in charge when I hear this, but what can I do?

They'll push owners out by raising property tax. Look at Chicago for that story. I lived it.

Andrew Bacevich is a retired general who is more anti-war than almost any Democrat I can think of.

MrIkesimba · November 1, 2017 at 11:09 am

Eisenhower was right, nobody listened and now we're fucked.

"This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence — economic, political, even spiritual — is felt in every city, every State house, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society.

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the militaryindustrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together."

Gore Vidal had a wonderful line about some of the people who have won the Nobel Peace Prize –
"Never underestimate Scandinavian wit."
And of course he said that BEFORE Obama won it!
