During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., pressed Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh on President Donald Trump’s attacks on the judiciary. Kavanaugh said he could not comment on current events. Blumenthal, pulling out a sheet of the president’s tweets, said “these are issues that concern the independence of the judiciary,” adding that ” nominees like yourself have an obligation to stand up for the judiciary.”
